  • MHCC | Glavda Bible Translation Project

The Glavda people of Nigeria and Cameroon still don't have the entire Bible in their own language. Let's change that. Give Now Glavda: A Language, A People The Glavda people's longing for Scripture began whern they witnessed other people groups around them complete translations of Luke's Gospel and produce the "JESUS" film. They wanted God's Word too, so they joined with other area language groups to pursue the same thing! Extreme violence at the hands of radical insurgents caused delays to the project—forcing translators to flee for their lives—but team members remained committed to completing the work. They successfully developed a writing system and produced Luke's Gospel and the "JESUS" film in their language. Through the project's second phase and still today, the political climate has been no less challenging. From 2019 to 2023, the Glavda worked on translating Matthew, Mark, John, Acts, Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, and James. This project continues where they left off: working toward the completion of their full New Testament. The Glavda team's perseverance in Bible translation—despite insurgency and forced evacuation from their homes—is a powerful testimony to their hope in God's Word alone for lasting peace and strength. Believers still struggle with the influence of African Traditional Religion, but God is bolstering their faith. Church leaders fell confident that more Scripture in Glavda will deepen their understanding of Christ's rich love for them and His power over the darkness that surrounds them. BE A PART OF IT. I Will Share God's Word Every $35 you give can support translation of a verse from the New Testament into Glavda. $35 = 1 verse. $105 = 3 verses. $525 = 15 verses. $1,000 = an entire chapter! $59,525.39 raised of $53,000 goal! All Scripture, All People Over 1 billion people still don’t have the full Bible in their language. In partnership with the global church, we are working to make all Scripture available to all people through the translation of God’s Word. The mission of Seed Company is to accelerate Scripture translation and impact for people without God’s Word through Great Commission partnerships. Frequently asked questions What is Seed Company? Seed Company, a 501(c)(3) organization led by Watermark member Davis Powell, is focused on accelerating Bible translation. They partner with local churches, translation organizations, and leaders to ensure that Bible translation is community-owned, sustainable, and delivered in a language and format people truly understand. To date, Seed Company has helped bring God’s Word to over 2,400 language communities. Learn more.(https://seedcompany.com/) How does Bible translation work? The process of translating Scripture involves linguists, local churches, and native speakers working together to ensure accuracy and clarity in every verse. How can Seed Company use my gift? Each Bible translation project requires funding for essential needs such as training, equipment, travel to and from workshops, testing the translation within the community, investor reporting, and effective project management. Seed Company works closely with field partners to establish sound project planning, benchmarks, and other forms of accountability. All projects are closely monitored to ensure an appropriate percentage of each investment goes directly toward needs in the field. While many local communities contribute financially or through in-kind support—such as services or gifts—Seed Company often provides additional funding to help cover living expenses for translators and their families. This helps prevent costly work stoppages and keeps translation efforts moving forward, reflecting a commitment to both acceleration and innovation. What happens after I give? We’ll keep the church updated on how many translation projects are supported through this initiative. You'll also have the opportunity to continue praying for the people and language communities impacted by your generosity. How far can my gift go? • $35 helps translate a verse of Scripture into Glavda, the language spoken by the Glavda people group located in Nigeria and Cameroon. • $105 helps translate three verses of Scripture into Glavda. • $525 helps translate fifteen verses of Scripture into Glavda. • $1,000 helps translate an entire chapter of Scripture into Glavda. • $53,000 could help complete the Glavda translation of the New Testament.

If a student feels homesick our leaders will come alongside them, talk with them, and help them re-engage with their group and activities. Instead, our leaders provide encouragement, prayer, and consistent support until the student feels settled. Shocco Springs will accommodate many common dietary needs (gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian, etc.). Please list your student’s dietary needs on the registration form. • SERMON DISCUSSION | MHCC

Sermon Discussion Below you'll find the pastor's presentations associated with each sermon along with discussion questions for your Life Group to use in response to each week's sermon. 2/22/26 Genesis 1:26-27 "Origins, pt. 3: The Image of God" Pastor Matt Russell How would you describe being made in the image of God to someone who is unfamiliar with the idea? What does it mean to you, that you are made in the image of God? How are you reminded of this on a daily basis? Does knowing that you are Gods “tselem” or image / idol change how you view this idea of being made in His image? What does it mean for us to be his resemblance in the world around us? Revisit the first 3 commandments in Exodus 20. Why do you think God made such an emphasis on image bearing and worship? How does the spread of humanity reflect Gods ownership of the earth? What are the effects of the image being polluted by sin? Why does the image need to be redeemed ? How does Jesus do this? So after all this, how would you describe our role as the image bearers tasked to propagate the image to the world? 2/15/26 Psalm 71 "Old and On Mission" Pastor Terry Thompson How can we continue to move forward in life with focus and perseverance in spiritual things? What can we do hep set us up for finishing our lives well? What are those moments in the past that God uses to strengthen you for your present and future difficulties? People on mission inspire others. Who in your life lived so “on mission” that it inspired you and your walk with the Lord? What are things we can do to teach and invest in the generations behind us? 2/8/26 Genesis 1:2-25 "Origins, pt. 2: Very Good" Pastor Tom Gray What does God creating by the use of words teach us? Why are words so powerful and have so much meaning? What was Gods purpose in creating? Why do you think God “took his time” in creating the universe, instead of doing it all at once? What is the significance of Gods Word being both Scripture and the person of Jesus? Read and discuss Hebrews 4:12 as a group. What stands out? What is it teaching us? 2/1/26 Genesis 1:1 "Origins, pt. 1: Beginning" Pastor Tom Gray We are starting a new study on the book of Genesis. From your knowledge of Genesis, what is your favorite part or story in this book? "What comes into your mind when you think about God is the most important thing about you" - A.W. Tozer. What comes into your mind when you think about God? How do you wrap your mind around the truth of Gods eternality? What’s the difference between creating and making? And what does this difference teach us about God and His creation? Why is Genesis 1:1 so foundational and important for our faith and theology? 1/11/26 Psalm 19:7-11 "God's Word" Dustin Willis, Seed Company What stood out to you today from The Seed Company’s message? Why is communication so important for relationships? Why is the Bible so crucial to our relationship with God? How has Gods word changed your relationship with Him? How has Gods word brought life to your life? How has Gods word been proved trustworthy to you? What is something new you’ve learned recently from Gods word? How has Gods word been a treasure to you and your family? 12/7/25 "Opened Up for Us, pt. 2: Peace" Pastor Tom Gray What comes to your mind when you think about “peace”? How does peace point to the heart of God? How do you make the connection between Jesus and Cities of Refuge being places of safety from wrath? Talk through the element of the death of the High Priest (Numbers 35:25) and the freedom of the accused. How does hearing Jesus described as an Avenger of Blood make you feel? What does it mean for our relationship with Christ? Jesus brought peace through victory over injustice. Is there any connection for us in our lives based on this truth? In other words, how can we bring about peace in different situations and relationships in our own lives? 11/30/25 "Opened Up for Us, pt. 1: Hope" Pastor Tom Gray What has been your experience with hopelessness? What did God teach you through these moments? What does it mean to you that Christ is your Hope? What is the connection of hope at the end of Ruth’s story and genealogy? (Ruth 4:18-22) What can we learn from this? Because of Jesus, our lives are eternally significant. What does that mean to you? 11/16/25 1 Timothy 2:5-6 "The Middle Man" Pastor Aaron Crawford Before we get into the 3 functions of Christ from this week’s message, what are some other functions or roles that Christ performs that are encouraging to you? Christ acts as our mediator between us and a holy, and righteous God. Talk through why Jesus was so unique in His ability to serve in this capacity. Why is this such an important factor in our spiritual walk? Aaron mentioned that, generally speaking, we have a higher view of ourselves and a lower view of God’s holiness, especially in light of our sin. What did he mean by this? How have you interacted with this way of thinking? Aaron focused on the fact that we are saved BY God and FROM God’s wrath (Romans 5:6-11). How does that make you feel? Have you really wrestled with the reality of God’s wrath on sin before? How encouraging is it to you to know that Christ “lives to make intercession” for you, even in times of our own prayerful negligence? (Hebrews 7:23-25) What’s the difference between Jesus being our intercessor and our advocate? Why is it important to distinctly separate all three of these titles and functions? 11/9/25 Ruth 2:20, Hebrews 2:6-15 "Divine Conspiracy, pt. 8: Kinsman" Pastor Tom Gray Redeem means to rescue and restore. Have you had any experience where someone in your family was a redeemer for you? Have you had the opportunity to do that for someone in your family? What did you learn in those instances? The terms Father, Husband, Brother and Friends are relational terms used in scripture to describe our relationship with the God-head. Talk through each one of these, what they mean for our walk and what stands out to you about each of them. What is the significance of Jesus being our brother / kinsman? (See Hebrews 2:9-15) What does “being in Gods family” mean to you? What blessings and responsibilities come from this? 11/2/25 Ruth 2:1 "Divine Conspiracy, pt. 7: Character—Boaz" Pastor Tom Gray How does pursuing Christ reflect on our character development? Where have you seen personal growth in your own life through this? How is reputation different from character? Read 3 John 3-6. What stands out to you in these verses? How do you or how can you make your “job” (in the world or at home) more Christ-centered like Boaz? How is our character developed through following or submitting to the will of God? How does God model generosity to you? Where have you learned or grown in your own generosity to those around you? Character over time = impact. Talk about this and what it could look like within your group, family and personal life

Friends are welcome, even if they don’t normally attend our church. What if my student has never been to a retreat before or doesn’t know many people? Our leaders are intentional about connecting students who are new or may feel nervous. Between small groups, activities, and cabin life, students will quickly find a place to belong. If students do bring their phone, we will be taking them as they check-in. We will return student’s phones after we arrive back to the church on Sunday. We understand there are medical accommodations and emergencies where a phone is needed and that is perfectly fine! Phones will be kept in the room with leaders in case of any necessary situations. Who are the leaders attending? Our retreat is led by our student ministry staff and small group leaders. All adult leaders are background-checked and trained to serve and care for students. What safety measures are in place? We maintain a safe adult-to-student ratio with leaders in each cabin and activity area. TVR provides trained staff for rec activities. Emergency procedures are in place and reviewed with leaders before the retreat. What about medical needs/medications? We will have a retreat nurse on site all weekend. All medications should be turned in at check-in on Friday, labeled clearly with instructions. The nurse will administer and track medications throughout the retreat. What happens if my student gets sick or injured? If your student becomes sick or injured they will be assessed immediately by our nurse. We will contact you promptly to explain the situation and discuss the best next steps. If additional care is needed we will arrange transportation to a local medical facility. Your student will be supervised and supported at all times to ensure their safety and comfort. What is your policy on homesickness? We understand that homesickness can happen, and our goal is to support students while helping them grow in maturity and confidence. If a student feels homesick our leaders will come alongside them, talk with them, and help them re-engage with their group and activities. We do not allow students to call home, as this often increases homesickness rather than easing it. Instead, our leaders provide encouragement, prayer, and consistent support until the student feels settled. If there is ever a true emergency or a situation that requires parental involvement, we will contact you directly. What about food allergies or dietary needs? TVR will accommodate many common dietary needs (gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian, etc.). Please list your student’s dietary needs on the registration form. If you have specific concerns, contact us in advance so we can coordinate with the camp kitchen. What if I have a school activity during the weekend? We understand that students may have school or sports commitments during the retreat. Due to the distance of the retreat, we do not offer accommodations such as late drop off or early pickup. Students must attend for the entirety of the retreat. Can I get a refund if something happens and we are no longer able to attend? Partial refunds will be given ($50 deposit is non-refundable) up to February 13, 2026. No refund will be given after we pass the one-week out mark from the event departure date. What should I bring? Please view the parent packet above for a full packing list for the weekend. How will parents receive updates during the retreat? There will be one text update each day. We will also provide text updates when we depart and arrive to and from the retreat. How can I contact a staff member during the retreat if needed? Please contact only through text during the retreat, emails will not be checked. Who can I contact for any additional questions? You can contact students@marshillcc.com (mailto:students@marshillcc.com)by email with any additional questions or concerns.
