Summer Camp is avalible to 6-12th graders of the 2025-26 school year.

Registration covers the cost of all transportation, lodging, meals, activities, and t-shirts.

Summer Camp is hosted by Student Life Camp (https://studentlife.lifeway.com/camp/26shoc03/)at Shocco Springs (https://www.shocco.org)in Talladega, AL (about two hours from the church). Shocco Springs is a is a modern wooded retreat with unique free time options including the Aqua Park, low ropes course, putt putt, paintball and paddle boats.

Activities (https://www.shocco.org/activities/)include outdoor basketball, miniature golf, frisbee golf, tennis, pool, pedal boats, GaGa ball, hiking trails, volleyball, foosball, carpet ball, arcade, snack bar, Aqua Park, Bazooka Ball, Wet Willie, Gelly Ball, Giant Swing and paintball.

At Shocco Springs, buildings and bed types vary including twins, bunks, full, queen and king size beds. Student Life house groups across a large variety of housing options from traditional cabins to hotel-style rooms. We will not know what style rooms we will stay in until much closer to our departure. Students may have to share beds depending on what style rooms are assigned. Males and females are always separated. We will take a charter bus to and from Summer Camp. We will not be stopping for meals along the way.

Adam Robinson has been preaching to students about the incredible love of Jesus for over 20 years. His passion is bringing Scripture to life for students and adults so that we can join Jesus in the incredible eternal life that He is bringing in all of His people. Helping each of us to find that next step in walking with Christ is a mainstay of his ministry. Adam currently serves as Senior Pastor of Double Oak Community Church (https://docc.org)in Birmingham, AL where he lives with his wife Alison and daughter Rose.

Summer Camp activities and programming are led by Student Life staff members. All other responsibilities will be led by our student ministry staff and small group leaders. All adult leaders are background-checked and trained to serve and care for students.

Students will not be allowed to have their phones during Summer Camp. We ask, if able, that parents take their child’s phone before check-in. If students do bring their phone, we will be taking them as they check-in. We will return student’s phones after we arrive back to the church. We will keep parents up to date on trip details through text notifications. We understand there are medical accommodations and emergencies where a phone is needed and that is perfectly fine! Phones will be kept in the room with leaders in case of any necessary situations.

We understand that homesickness can happen, and our goal is to support students while helping them grow in maturity and confidence. If a student feels homesick our leaders will come alongside them, talk with them, and help them re-engage with their group and activities. We do not allow students to call home, as this often increases homesickness rather than easing it. Instead, our leaders provide encouragement, prayer, and consistent support until the student feels settled. If there is ever a true emergency or a situation that requires parental involvement, we will contact you directly.

Shocco Springs will accommodate many common dietary needs (gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian, etc.). Please list your student’s dietary needs on the registration form. If you have specific concerns, contact us in advance so we can coordinate with the camp kitchen.

We will have a camp nurse on site all weekend. All medications should be turned in at check-in, labeled clearly with instructions. Our nurse will administer and track medications throughout the week.

If your student becomes sick or injured they will be assessed immediately by our nurse. We will contact you promptly to explain the situation and discuss the best next steps. If additional care is needed we will arrange transportation to a local medical facility. Your student will be supervised and supported at all times to ensure their safety and comfort.

Students may be dropped off or picked up early from Sumer Camp with prior approval with a MHCC staff member. Parents must accommodate for additional transportation.
