"But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children" Titus 2:1-4 Vintage is our Seniors Ministry that meets weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall for Bible Study. • CORE VALUES | MHCC

OUR MISSION The mission of Mars Hill Community Church has been given to us by Jesus: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go there for and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always to the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 In light of Jesus' words to His disciples, Mars Hill Community Church exists to invest our lives in sharing Jesus Christ and grow His followers. OUR VALUES While our mission is why we exist, our values are what we do to accomplish our mission. As Disciples of Jesus Christ, our values are key commitments to which we are resolutely devoted and virtues in which we aspire to grow both individually and corporately. Prayerfully Dependent Cultivate relationship with God through regular prayer Our efforts are in vain if we are not abiding in Christ through prayer. Prayer is the common thread that runs through all areas of our Christian walk. Through prayer we can pursue a relationship with God that is both intimate and dependent. Ministry Minded Actively develop and deploy spiritual gifts to serve the others. When most of us think of ministry, we immediately think of "professional" ministers. However, the Scripture clearly teaches that every disciple of Jesus is also a minister. The Holy Spirit grants unique gifts to all born again Christ followers. These gifts are meant to be deployed in the body of believers to help the body mature and grow. Biblically Centered Be defined and directed by God's Word The Bible is God’s holy, inerrant word. God’s word serves as the foundation of our life and it is essential to understanding God, mankind, history, and life in general. The Bible is truth that rightly defines us and directs us in all areas of our lives. Missionally Engaged Seeking opportunities to have gospel conversations locally and globally The Church is the hope of the world. We have been entrusted as ambassadors with the message of reconciliation. Therefore, our ultimate motive in every relationship is to embody and proclaim the life giving message of hope and restoration only found in Jesus. We accomplish this by actively seeking to create "God-space" in all our relationships through loving service and conversation. Relationally Connected Build authentic Relationships of Encouragement and Accountability All of us have a deep longing for community in our lives. We need others in our lives and cannot be all that God has intended us to be without significant, meaningful relationships with others. It's in authentic relationships with others that we can look most like Jesus. Courageously Generous Living as a faithful steward, rather than an owner, of resources entrusted to us. Jesus identifies wealth as one of the primary competitors for our heart's affection. As a disciple of Jesus we must regularly remind ourselves that we are simply managers of our resources rather than owners. We give to the purposes and work of God not to gain anything from Him but to demonstrate our gratitude and trust. We regularly need to be challenged to courageously give. When we do, we will see God's faithful provision and love.

  • WHAT WE BELIEVE | MHCC

ABOUT US WHAT WE BELIEVE The following are the core beliefs of Mars Hill Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines. Meet Our Team Our Core Values What we believe DOCTRINE 1. GOD God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2 2. MANKIND AND THE FALL Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin." This attitude separates man from God. Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a, 59:1-2; Romans 3:23 3. ETERNITY Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence. Matthew 25:31-46; John 2:25, 3:16, 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; 1 John 5:11-12; Revelation 20:15 4. JESUS CHRIST Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 1 Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 4:14-15 5. SALVATION Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works – only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith. John 1:12, 14:6, Romans 5:1, 6:23; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5 6. ETERNAL SECURITY Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25, 10:10 & 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5 7. THE HOLY SPIRIT The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under his control daily. John 14:16-17, 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 1:13, 5:1 8. THE BIBLE The Bible is God’s word to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. Psalm 12:6, 119:105 & 160; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21 9. BAPTISM Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ. Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41; Ephesians 2: 8-9; Colossians 2:12 10. COMMUNION Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember his sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant. The elements of bread and wine or juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross. Matthew 26:26-30; Mark 14:22-26; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29 11. MARRIAGE & SEXUALITY Please see attached document of The Nashville Statement, which details our beliefs and includes supporting Scripture.

Friends are welcome, even if they don’t normally attend our church. What if my student has never been to a retreat before or doesn’t know many people? Our leaders are intentional about connecting students who are new or may feel nervous. Between small groups, teams for Retreat Rivals, and cabin life, students will quickly find a place to belong. What is the phone policy? Students will not be allowed to have their phones during camp. We ask, if able, that parents take their child’s phone before we leave for the retreat. If students do bring their phone, we will be taking them as they check-in. We will return student’s phones after we arrive back to the church on Sunday. We understand there are medical accommodations and emergencies where a phone is needed and that is perfectly fine! Phones will be kept in the room with leaders in case of any necessary situations. Emergency Contacts for Fall Retreat will be sent out two weeks before we leave. Who are the leaders attending? Our retreat is led by our student ministry staff and small group leaders. All adult leaders are background-checked and trained to serve and care for students. What safety measures are in place? We maintain a safe adult-to-student ratio with leaders in each cabin and activity area. Woodlands provides trained staff for high ropes and rec activities. Emergency procedures are in place and reviewed with leaders before the retreat. What about medical needs/medications? We will have a retreat nurse on site all weekend. All medications should be turned in at check-in on Friday, labeled clearly with instructions. The nurse will administer and track medications throughout the retreat. What about food allergies or dietary needs? Woodlands Camp can accommodate many common dietary needs (gluten-free, nut-free, vegetarian, etc.). Please list your student’s dietary needs on the registration form. If you have specific concerns, contact us in advance so we can coordinate with the camp kitchen. What if I have a school activity during the weekend? We understand that students may have school or sports commitments during the retreat. While we are not able to provide late transportation, parents are welcome to bring their student directly to Woodlands Camp after their activity. If a student needs to be picked up early, they are welcome to leave with a parent, but they will not be able to return to camp afterward. Please let us know ahead of time so we can plan for their arrival or departure and ensure a smooth process. Can I get a refund if something happens and we are no longer able to attend? Partial refunds will be given ($50 deposit is non-refundable) up to November 2, 2025. No refund will be given after we pass the one-week out mark from the event departure date. What should I bring? Please view the parent packet above for a full packing list for the weekend. Who can I contact for any additional questions?
