Today we traveled to another field where we met a group of baseball players who were training. Tim shared the gospel with the boys and they were receptive and friendly. Then we broke into teams and played baseball and had a special time of connecting with the boys and having fun together.
Next we headed to lunch as Matt led our team in a devotional about building a foundation from Luke 6:46-49. Are we wise or foolish builders? Why do we call on the Lord and then not do what he says?
We then headed to the City of Hope to prepare for our camp with the girls. We focused on John 15 and abiding in Christ. Phil demonstrated this through the example of the vine and the branches. We must abide in Christ to be fruitful and grow in Him. Also we explained that salvation is a gift that is offered to us from God but the true gift is Jesus and our relationship with Him.
We enjoyed games and small group time with our girls and made some important connections with them surrounding the idea of Jesus being the gift that is offered to us. Our special helper from the community (either a mom or older female) is an important connection we are making to help prepare them to continue this important discipleship after we have left the DR. —Melinda Cope
